Escape From New York Reboot Gets Major Update, Adds Scream Directors

The planned Escape from New York reboot moves forward with Scream directors Radio Silence at the helm. John Carpenter (Halloween) made the 1981 cult classic, starring Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken, a criminal tasked with rescuing the President from within a future version of Manhattan converted into a giant maximum-security prison. 20th Century Fox acquired the remake rights in 2015 and attached Robert Rodriguez and Leigh Whannell to the film as director and writer, respectively, but the project has yet to make further progress until now.
