Daredevil Revealed His Identity to the One Hero He Trusts With His Life

Warning! Spoilers for Daredevil #1 by Marvel Comics

Before leaving his city, Daredevil is revealing his secret identity to the one Marvel hero he trusts to look after it while he's gone, Spider-Man. In Daredevil #1 by Marvel Comics, the Devil of Hell's Kitchen reveals his plans to Peter Parker to leave his city with Elektra and try to stop The Hand for good. However, while doing so, he tells him his real identity as Matt Murdock, showing how much he trusts the web-slinger.

Marvel currently has two Daredevils operating in tandem in Hell's Kitchen, but soon, there will be none. Instead, matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios are leaving New York and making it their mission to take down the ninja organization, The Hand. The Hand is a global organization that now has the Punisher on its side, so the two Daredevils know stopping them will be one of their most complex challenges. However, Daredevil isn't leaving New York unguarded, as he's revealing his secret identity to Spider-Man to show how much he trusts his fellow hero to protect his home while he's gone.

In Daredevil #1 by Chip Zdarsky, Marco Checchetto, Rafael De Latorre, and Matt Wilson from Marvel Comics, Matt Murdock's Daredevil goes on one last mission with Spider-Man ahead of passing the torch to him to protect the city while he's off fighting The Hand. After threatening the new Kingpin with a warning about becoming his dad, Daredevil decides to reveal his secret identity to Spider-Man, "one of the only people I can trust with my life."

Spider-Man's spider-sense goes into overdrive as he learns Matt Murdock is Daredevil, as his knowledge had been previously altered by the Purple Children. Daredevil admits his secret identity being erased felt like a fresh start, but since the general public believes Matt Murdock is dead, he felt the need to tell the web-slinger the truth. Spider-Man tells Daredevil he loves him but can't share his own secret identity, which Murdock fully understands. Spider-Man and Daredevil go on one last mission against mobsters, where the former's inner thoughts reveal he trusts his fellow hero in keeping the city safe and inspiring hope in his absence.

It's great to see Daredevil and Spider-Man have one last heartfelt conversation and mission before the former leaves New York City. Daredevil wouldn't be departing unless there were a hero he could trust enough to keep fighting while he tackles even bigger threats. By revealing his secret identity and sharing the moment with Spider-Man, Daredevil should be confident knowing he's leaving Hell's Kitchen in good hands.
