Iron Man Writer Threatens to Kill Tony Stark for the Best Reason

Warning! Potential spoilers for Iron Man's current ongoing series at Marvel Comics

Writer Christopher Cantwell has hilariously threatened to kill Iron Man as an act of revenge for a Marvel Comics reader who bullied his son. In a tweet that's gone viral, Cantwell wrote that after learning one of his son's preschool classmates pushed his son off the top of a slide was a fan of Marvel Comics, he joked that he was going to kill Tony Stark in the next issue of his series, with his dying words being, "This is because of Ryan."

Iron Man's status quo has changed considerably under Christopher Cantwell's Iron Man run for Marvel Comics alongside artists Cafu and Angel Unzueta. Tony Stark is trying to be the best version of himself, but in fitting form, he is struggling to do so. In the series, he got a new girlfriend in Patsy Walker, tried to make himself a God, warped reality to his image after gaining the powers of Galactus, and failed miserably at godhood after losing control. Before Iron Man says "I do" to Patsy Walker, Cantwell jokingly teased the death of Tony Stark for the best reason: to get back at his son's bully.

Cantwell tweeted about an incident at his son's preschool, where another child - who was admittedly a fan of Marvel Comics - pushed his son from the top of the slide. In response, Cantwell joked that he told his son to tell the other kid that if he pushes him off the slide again, Cantwell will kill Iron Man in the very next issue, and his dying words will be, "This is because of Ryan." The tweet has received over 100k likes.

The tweet was obviously a joke, but Cantwell added that he doesn't have the power to make the change without permission from Marvel Comics, who will probably pass on the real-life revenge arc. Cantwell even wrote that as much as he was "tempted to engage in racketeering with children's imaginations," he wouldn't follow through on killing Iron Man - even if it would have upset his son's bully.

If Cantwell did have complete control to kill Tony Stark and blame it on his son's bully, it would be the perfect - albeit extremely traumatic - revenge for his child getting pushed down a slide. But, for Iron Man fans, and Ryan, there is no need to fret, as the hero isn't going anywhere any time soon. The joke tweet is practically impossible to come to fruition, even if it would make for a hilarious jaded way to kill Tony Stark in the comics. Iron Man is safe, but it's best Ryan doesn't push Cantwell's son down the slide again, just in case, of course.
