The 10 Most Physically Fit Characters In Video Games | ScreenRant

Video games provide an opportunity to go over the top when it comes to character design. The rules of the real world don't apply, including physics, and dietary schedules. Therefore, it's possible to craft characters that cannot even exist in the real world, due to their peak physical fitness.

There are many cut, ripped, and toned video game characters that have come and gone throughout gaming history. The best ones rely on more than just their physical bodies to get ahead, but having a six-pack chiseled out of marble, and tone the likes of which can only be achieved with a punishing workout schedule, do help a lot.

10 The Resurrected Warrior (Altered Beast)

This long-dead warrior gets resurrected by none other than Zeus himself, and tasked with rescuing his daughter from the clutches of an evil sorcerer. Fresh out of the grave, the resurrected warrior is already pretty fit, but two power-ups later, and he's a gargantuan behemoth that could make the Hulk stop and pause.

The warrior is so huge, in fact, that his body dwarfs his own miniaturized head, making him look like 1970s-era Arnold Schwarzenegger, after eating another Arnold Schwarzenegger, simply for the protein boost. The level of muscle in the character is way over the top, perhaps on purpose.

9 Kratos (God Of War)

A Spartan warrior with enough kills to his name to make serial killers blush, Kratos is a physically fit specimen of battle-hardened efficiency. With the powers of a demigod already at his disposal, Kratos was a one-man wrecking ball, but it wasn't until the Gods earned his wrath that he truly broke out of his shell, turning into a galactic killer with some of the best one-liners in action gaming.

Kratos is one of the most physically fit video game characters ever created, and he needs to be, in order to accomplish the kinds of feats seen in the God of War games. He's battled gigantic Titans, superpowered Gods, and every manner of monster from myth and legend, and emerged on the other side, stronger.

8 Batman (Batman: Arkham Asylum)

Batman is widely regarded as being in peak physical conditioning in the comic books, but the Arkham series of video games really played that up to the nth degree. This version of Batman is pure muscle, and practically no body fat to speak of, with biceps and shoulders that mere mortals could never achieve without a professional trainer.

Naturally, this Batman is stylized and accentuated to accommodate whatever passes for reality in the world of video games, and that's the point. Players get to step into the cowl and cape of the world's greatest detective, while using superior physical conditioning to take down everything from the average street crook, to Killer Croc himself.

7 Chun-Li (Street Fighter)

Chun-Li epitomizes the peak of physical fitness in Street Fighter, and that's a tough crowd to go up against. There are so many physically fit characters in the game, but Chun-Li has a leg up on the competition, which has allowed her to stay relevant decades after she debuted in Street Fighter II.

Her signature traits are her two unbelievably muscular legs, which could probably crack a brick with little effort. She uses her legs to deal out punishment in the form of mighty kicks, including a rapid-fire barrage that can put any opponent on the ground in short order.

6 The Slayer (DOOM)

Ripping and tearing on the level required in DOOM demands a physically capable specimen, such as the Slayer. This ancient force is powerful enough to make the entirety of Hell quake in fear, thanks to unparalleled rage, married to a body that can take punishment for centuries, and keep going.

The Slayer is physically taller and much broader than even the most battle-hardened Space Marine, and it comes in handy when going up against the horrors of Hell. Armed with a devastating set of DOOM weapons and a suit of armor, the Slayer is more than capable of dealing with the worst of the worst, and then some.

5 Mike Haggar (Final Fight)

Mike Haggar is an ex-pro wrestler who somehow got elected Mayor of Metro City, though it's baffling as to how. To maintain a body as ripped and powerful as his requires 6-8 hours of workouts per day, which leaves little time to manage an entire city.

When the going gets rough, Haggar loses his shirt, keeps the suspenders, and shows the criminal underworld of Metro City the error of its ways. He's a giant butterball of pure rage, a chiseled chin, and a body that can tear a car in two, if provoked.

4 Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)

Lara Croft may not have the musculature to compete in a hand-to-hand fight against a ripped opponent, but she's got the athleticism and stamina to outperform the best of the best. She needs it, given the exotic locales she visits in her quest to uncover the relics of the ancient world.

In fact, Croft is so fit that she can survive in climates and terrain that would send even experienced adventurers running for the airport. Whether she's sweating it out in the jungle, or ice-picking her way to the top of a frozen Himalayan glacier, Lara can handle it. She's a big part of the Tomb Raider story, from a simple idea, to a pop culture icon.

3 Faith Connors (Mirror's Edge)

Mirror's Edge introduced gamers to the character of Faith Connors, a parkour courier constantly on the run from the underworld she flirts with, as well as the government. To that end, she needs to have a body built for speed and endurance, especially when leaping tall builds in a single bound.

Once the chase is on, Faith is relentless, and she's able to outmaneuver and outrun the best that is thrown at her. The sheer amount of stamina required to do what she does is astonishing, but that's a natural byproduct of her line of work, which is exercise all by itself.

2 Master Chief (Halo)

The SPARTAN-II program was designed to fast-track a new breed of super soldier capable of dealing with galactic threats, and John-117, aka the Master Chief, is considered the platinum standard. He may not say much, but when Master Chief does, it's purposeful. The rest of the time, he's a man of pure action.

His physicality is quite astonishing, especially when it comes to his size. When decked out in his SPARTAN-II armor, he's a near-unstoppable tank, augmented by his physical strength, and his unwavering courage, which acts as the propellant. He can easily replace an entire battalion on the battlefront, and that includes heavy artillery.

1 Asura (Asura's Wrath)

Asura represents one of the most over-the-top characters in terms of physical fitness, and that's not an understatement. He's so powerful, in fact, that he managed to destroy an opponent the size of an entire planet, simply by striking his index finger when it tried to crush him.

A demigod by design, Asura is gifted with powers that far exceed that of a normal human, which is how he is able to achieve his feats of strength. Without his powers, he'd be intimidating enough in physical presence alone to make any wise person back down, and call it a day.
