Motorola is all set to launch its Edge X30 smartphone next week, and the company has already started teasing the device on social media, revealing critical specifications. The Moto Edge X30 is set to become the first commercially available smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The device will be unveiled on December 9 before going on sale on December 15 in China.
Motorola is working on multiple smartphones for various segments of the market. The company just launched the entry-level Moto G Power (2022) with a MediaTek Helio G37 SoC, a 5,000mAh battery, and a 90Hz HD+ display. In addition, it plans to launch a new device with a 200MP camera, although unverified leaks suggest that the upcoming Moto Edge X30 will not be the rumored 200MP camera phone.
Ahead of its official unveiling next week, the Moto Edge X30 has been teased extensively on Chinese social media by the Lenovo-owned company. The latest teasers posted by Motorola on its official Weibo account have revealed some of the display specifications of the upcoming device. Per the teasers, the X30 will feature a screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification and 1 billion colors. The screen size and resolution remain under wraps officially, but earlier leaks suggested that it will be a 6.67-inch panel with FullHD+ resolution.

Several leaked renders have also seemingly revealed the upcoming phone's rear design and camera setup. According to those leaks, the device will have a triple-camera module at the back, led by a 50MP sensor (OmniVision OV50A) with optical image stabilization (OIS). The two other cameras will include a 50MP ultra-wide shooter (Samsung JN1) and a 2MP depth sensor (OV02B1B). At the front, there will reportedly be a 60MP selfie camera housed inside a centrally-positioned punch-hole, although the exact make and model of the sensor remain unclear. The device is also said to run Android 12 out-of-the-box and will reportedly receive at least two major OS updates.
Some of the other leaked specs for the Moto Edge 30 Ultra (a.k.a. the Edge X30) include up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device, however, isn't expected to offer a microSD card slot for storage expansion. It is said to pack a 5,000mAh battery with an impressive 68W fast-charging support. It won't, however, feature wireless charging or reverse charging. It is expected to come with an IP52 rating but won't have a 3.5mm headphone socket. There's no word on when Motorola will launch the Edge X30 outside China, but leaks suggest that it will launch the Edge 30 Ultra in global markets.
