OnePlus Nord 2 CE Hit A Speed Bump, So You'll Have To Keep Waiting

The OnePlus Nord 2 CE was expected to make an appearance at the CES 2022 tech expo next month, but a new report now claims that the launch date has been pushed back to February. The Nord 2 CE will be the successor to the first-generation Nord CE 5G that OnePlus released earlier this year. It is expected to be a mid-ranger that will complement the company's upcoming flagship devices, the OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro.

OnePlus initially ditched the idea of mid-range smartphones after a largely lackadaisical experiment called the OnePlus X back in 2015. However, it returned to the mid-range game last year with the OnePlus Nord before doubling down on its mid-range strategy this year with the OnePlus Nord 2 and OnePlus Nord CE. The devices have generally been well-received and OnePlus will be hoping to replicate the success with their successors next year.

According to tipster Yogesh Brar (via 91Mobiles), the OnePlus Nord 2 CE will "definitely" not debut before February 2022. In fact, the company may even push back the launch date to March, although there's no confirmation about an exact time frame at this stage. The device was earlier rumored to be unveiled at the upcoming CES tech expo in Las Vegas, but that's now unlikely to happen if the latest report is anything to go by.

The OnePlus Nord 2 CE has already been extensively leaked over the past weeks, revealing quite a lot about its specs and features. The device is expected to ship with the MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor, up to 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4,500 mAh capacity battery. It is also said to feature a 6.4-inch 90Hz AMOLED panel with an under-display fingerprint scanner. Connectivity options are understood to include a 3.5mm headphone socket, a microSD card slot, and a USB Type-C port. The phone is expected to run on Android 12.

On the imaging side of things, the OnePlus Nord 2 CE will likely sport a rear triple-camera setup comprised of a 64-megapixel primary shooter from OmniVision, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor, all of which sound similar to the setup found on the original Nord CE 5G. However, there's no word on the exact make and model of the second and third sensors, so it's not immediately clear if the two setups will be identical. On the front, OnePlus is rumored to be using a 16-megapixel unit with the selfie-cam housed within a centered punch-hole.
