Pikachu's Best Cosplay In Pokémon Games | Screen Rant

Pikachu has worn cosplay in a variety of Pokémon games, both mainline and spin-off. Some of these outfits are meant to be cute, while others reference a specific concept. Certain cosplays, though, stand out as being particularly memorable and elaborate.

As the mascot of the Pokémon series, Pikachu's cosplay has been used as a promotional tool in many games and events. From Pikachu's many costumes in Pokémon Unite to the repeated seasonal events of Pokémon Go, the electric mouse Pokémon continues to feature new looks and styles to entice players. Here are a few of Pikachu's most stand-out cosplays.

In the interest of narrowing selections down strictly to cosplay, only instances where Pikachu appeared in a full costume have been considered. Individual articles of clothing, such as Pikachu simply wearing a hat, are accessories more than they are cosplay and thus are not part of the list. Additionally, each of the selections references a particular look instead of being a set of casual clothes.

The Pikachu Libre cosplay first appeared in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Meant to resemble a lucha libre wrestler, the outfit is just one of five possible forms of a Cosplay Pikachu gifted to the player. Beyond the aesthetic change, Pikachu Libre learns the move Flying Press, a move Pikachu cannot normally learn. Since its creation, the costume has appeared in other games such as Pokkén Tournament and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The Team Rocket outfit is one of many available costumes for the Partner Pikachu in Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and can be obtained from the Rocket Hideout in Celadon City. By equipping the matching hat and shirt, Pikachu can cosplay as a member of the infamously villainous team, and it can even match with its trainer if they wear their Rocket attire, too. While this look is not particularly complex, seeing Pikachu smile innocently while wearing the uniform of a dangerous criminal organization is humorous enough to make it noteworthy.

Pikachu's Mimikyu cosplay is perhaps one of its most ironic. Pikachu donned the outfit as a Halloween costume during Pokémon GO's Halloween 2019 event. The Pokémon on which the costume is based, Mimikyu, is a Ghost-type Pokémon originating in Pokémon Sun and Moon that wears a disguise in order to resemble Pikachu. The irony of Pikachu doing the same to look like Mimikyu is both cute and funny, making the costume a notable one. With this cosplay, Pikachu is effectively copying its copycat; though, as the saying goes, imitation is the greatest form of flattery.
