Far Cry 6's Assassin's Creed Easter Egg is a Death Trap

While Far Cry 6 boasts Assassin's Creed Easter eggs in the form of cleverly placed Leap of Faith references, players are advised against making the jump to the hay pile below. For nearly 15 years, Ubisoft developers have trained players to jump upon spying a high vantage point with a haystack situated far beneath it. The Leap of Faith in Assassin's Creed has, thus, become an integral part of the franchise's gameplay experience. Naturally, several other games, Ubisoft-published and non, allude to the performative jump every so often.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings featured one such Easter egg, comprised of a white-robed dead man lying in a stack of hay and perfectly positioned in the Leap of Faith pose. Hitman: Absolution's Sniper Challenge featured a similar Assassin's Creed nod. When looking through Agent 47's rifle scope, users could spot someone kneeling on a skyscraper's jutted out piece of wood; if 47 successfully killed the target, the mystery character would fall, followed by the sound of an Eagle screeching in the distance. The Witcher 2 and Hitman seem to advise against Leaps of Faith... something Far Cry 6 fans would do well to remember while exploring the island of Yara.

As reported by Kotaku, many users have noticed Leap of Faith jumping points in Far Cry 6. Atop some high structures in the open-world game sit overhanging pieces of wood; a quick look below shows a strategically placed haystack, complete with the sound of an Eagle cawing nearby. The perfect opportunity for jumping like Assassin's Creed taught us, right? Wrong! Redditor SarumanTheSack recently demonstrated why and ktronatron issued a PSA to warn against jumping from towers. As you can see in the video below, the comfy-looking pile of hay equates to nothing more than certain death.

Why Far Cry 6 developers would create this particular Easter egg and not let players use it as intended is anyone's guess. But just because a neat gameplay mechanic works in one series does not mean it similarly translate well to another.

Assassin's Creed's Leap of Faith has remained a franchise staple since the first entry in 2007. The stunt even appear in the Michael Fassbender-starring 2016 movie. Kassandra and Alexios could perform the jump as well, even though AC Odyssey takes place long before the founding of the Hidden Ones/Assassin's Order.
