What We Know About Pokémon Legends: Arceus' New Noble Pokémon Kleavor

The latest trailer for Pokémon Legends: Arceus has revealed a new Noble Pokémon named Kleavor. This is one of the Noble Pokémon that will be battled in what appears to be something of a boss encounter. Kleavor is also connected to Scyther, one of the Pokémon that debuted all the way back in Pokémon Red and Blue.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set in the distant past of the Sinnoh region, at a time when it was called Hisui. The different climate has resulted in regional variants and evolutions for existing Pokémon, and these have included new regional variants of Braviary and Growlithe. There are also region-specific evolutions for existing Pokémon, such as Basculegion, which is the Water/Ghost-type evolution of Basculin.

The recent trailer for Pokémon Legends: Arceus showed off some new features, such as the customization options for Pokémon trainers, and the new pasture system, which replaces Pokémon boxes. The biggest reveal of the trailer involved Noble Pokémon, which appear to be the boss monsters of the game. Kleavor is one of the Noble Pokémon in the game, and its design will look familiar to old-school Pokémon fans.

Kleavor is the regional evolution of Scyther from the Kanto region. It's unlikely that Scizor exists yet at this point in the timeline. Kleavor is a Bug/Rock-type Pokémon, and Scyther's scythe-like arms have been replaced with axes. The evolution is a result of the special minerals in the Hisui region. The chips in its body reference are a reflection of all of the battles it has faced. Humans in the Hisui region are known to collect bits of broken Kleavor flesh and use them to make tools. The average height of a Kleavor is 5'11 and the average weight is 196 pounds. It's currently unclear attacks Kleavor has, or what Ability it possesses.

A Noble Pokémon falls under the effects of a frenzy, in a similar manner to the Frenzy Virus from the Monster Hunter series. This causes the Pokémon's body to glow with golden light and increases its size. A Noble Pokémon cannot be defeated in a conventional manner. Instead, the player has to survive its onslaught, while wearing it down with a special balm made from its favorite foods. Striking the Noble Pokémon in battle will temporarily daze it, allowing the player to whack it with more balms. It seems that players will need to prepare before entering a battle with a Noble Pokémon, as they will need to go on a quest to make the balms that weaken them.
