Shiny SwSh Legendaries Offered In Diamond & Pearl Remake Pre-Order Bonus

A pre-order promotion is happening for the upcoming Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in South Korea, where fans can claim a Shiny version of Zacian and Zamazenta for their copy of Pokémon Sword and Shield. Zacian and Zamazenta are the box Legendary Pokémon of Pokémon Sword and Shield, which means that they don't have Shiny versions in the base games.

Before Pokémon Black and White, it was possible to save scum over and over again in order to encounter a Shiny version of a Legendary Pokémon. Game Freak changed this in Pokémon Black and White, by making it impossible for certain Pokémon to be Shiny. This is referred to as a Shiny Lock and it includes many Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, as well as special event Pokémon, like the cap-wearing Pikachu. One possible reason for this is to prevent cutscenes from being messed up thanks to an alternate character model, which might be why the Galarian starters are Shiny-Locked at the start of the game, even though the descendants of those Pokémon that are created through breeding can be Shiny.

The Shiny Lock on Zacian and Zamazenta is being broken in at least one region. According to the official Serebii Twitter page, a promotion is being held in South Korea for the upcoming launch of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The people who pre-order either game individually or the double pack will receive codes for Shiny versions of Zacian and Zamazenta. These codes can be claimed between November 19 and December 31, 2021.

These codes can only be claimed in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Fans now believe that the Sinnoh remakes won't have the National Dex and may just use the Pokémon Platinum Pokédex. The Pokémon Company has yet to confirm this, and considering the outcry when the National Dex was cut from Pokémon Sword and Shield, it might not mention it until the games have been released. At least it makes sense in this regard, as Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl appear to be as accurate as possible, in regards to remaking the Sinnoh games.

The Shiny Zacian and Zamazenta codes won't be the only pre-order bonuses associated with Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as early adopters will receive a Manaphy egg in their game. The Shiny Zacian and Zamazenta promotion has currently only been confirmed for South Korea, but it's likely that it will be made available in the rest of the world before the game launches.
